Barium stearate is a thick, soft, finely crystalline powder with a distinct smell.
Barium stearate is used in clear PVC compound as a lubricant
and heat stabiliser. It usually works
best when combined with other stabilisers like lead and
cadmium stearate. It can be utilised as a drying
lubricant for rubbers as well as a flatting
and sanding agent in lacquers, varnishes, and inks.
